Another day, still crickets from Expandify.
Tim Austin from • Affordable Modular Buildings has now responded publicly, including saying |
can expect to hear from his solicitor over statements he says are false and potentially defamatory.
In addition, Tim has stated that Expandify was not in a position to pay AMB for our installation and
still owes AMB money for other installation support.
That doesn't prove insolvency. It does however make Expandify's continued silence increasingly
more alarming.
l've updated the website with the latest, including a full unpacking of Tim's response:
https://thegrannyflatfiles.com.au/../affordablemodularbu...
So why am I still talking about AMB when they weren't the contracting party?
Because AMB's contractual role isn't the issue. Tim's conduct is.
An apology for Mum crying doesn't answer the actual question: why did he choose to call her at all,
after being expressly told not to?
Instead of addressing that, he is defending his conduct, deflecting from the core issue and
dismissing our account as an "overexaggerated situation".
That matters because this kind of conduct can cause real harm. And when nobody takes
accountability, it gets brushed under the carpet until it happens to someone else.

My heart breaks for all those who are suffering a large or small loss or a large or small
issue, I will say the more that truthfully speak out about there experience and
situation, the more aware others become, it appears company's want us to talk all
rainbows and lollipops and not talk about the nitty gritty issues people are being
faced with, how dare we... im pretty sure the trust levels with this type of build
company's are at an all time low,, I personaly feel like I did my due diligence and loads
of research, how wrong was I with EXPANDIFY, don't know how Clayton and Sarah
sleep at night, the truth is the truth a lie and misrepresentation is exactly that, shame
on expandify....

This level of antagonism between the two parties need not have occurred
if the significant time delays were acknowledged and a realistic timeframe
of completion was set.
All major aspects of the building plans had been discussed, paid,
approved and unchanged since March 2026. This includes factoring in
major elements such as decking, staircases and other structural elements.

I will say it publicly again, if you have an issue with our product sell it back to us.
There have been delays YES ( you have a difficult site ), there has been
miscommunication YES (we have a large team), But we have been working with
you to sort everything as i have always promised every customer. You only ever
tell one side of the story. Again we have never said we will not repair or fix an
issue. WE ARE NOT HIDING MATE.

Sean Yap Sorry you're dealing with your own mess too. It's exhausting when
you're just trying to get a home finished and every answer seems to create
another question.

ana rve never said they can't bulla good nomes. my issue is specitically
with how Tim handled our situation.
Just to clarify the "Mum says" point, that was one call I wasn't a party to
which why l've described it like that. I had two separate calls with Tim
myself, plus the email exchanges, and he has since made public
statements about what happened as well. A number of the claims he's
now making publicly are directly contradicted by the emails from the time,
which is exactly why l've been so careful to document everything.
And on payment, Mum had already paid Expandify well over $130k. We
were not expecting anyone to work for free or refusing to pay a deposit.
The dispute was about being pressured to make the next almost $70k
payment before the contractual milestone had occurred. Which was the
house arriving in the country.
This post is also about a week old and was only approved today, so there's
a newer update up now.

Hi Hi-Tech Modular Homes.
The trouble has not yet been resolved as the build is still not yet
completed.
So, the statement of me going through troubles remains factual.
Once the build is completed, with defects satisfactorily rectified. I will
state that I "had trouble in the past".
This level of antagonism between the two parties need not have occurred
if the significant time delays were acknowledged and a realistic timeframe
of completion was set.
All major aspects of the building plans had been discussed, paid,
approved and unchanged since March 2026. This includes factoring in

stage?

Mum's house is now in Australia, but it is still not on her property and there is
still no installation date.
We're at a stalemate because Expandify wants the next 30% payment, but they
still don't have a nominee and we have serious concerns about whether they
can actually complete the remaining licensed work.
We offered to put the full payment into their solicitor's trust account with
protections around delivery/completion. They refused
So yes, the house is finally onshore, but unfortunately that hasn't translated into
an actual pathway to getting Mum into it. I've put a newer update up in the
group as well.

this coming week.
I know the post is not about AMB but I have dealt with Tim personally on several
occasions and have found to be nothing but professional and he seems on the ball.

Hi Hi-Tech Modular Homes,
Please note that I have never stated that the company will not rectify
issues and have definitely never said the company is hiding.
lacknowledge that issues are in the process of being resolved now, but it
should have never gotten to this point.
I will not be selling the unit as the time delays incurred has already been
immense.
This Facebook page is about highlighting experiences with modular
building companies. The unfortunate thing is that the experience was not
as expected.
The company is free to present their side of the story.I have also attached
a timeline document of projected completion for this dwelling, which is
long overdue. This timeline projection was provided by HiTech after
completion of the factory build.
I have also never provided commentary about any issue with the product,

Misterr Mac Thanks, and genuinely glad you've had a good experience with Tim
and AMB
I've never claimed they can't build good homes. In fact, I've said publicly that
they may build perfectly good structures. They withdrew before Mum's
installation, so l can't comment on the quality of their building work.
My issue is specifically Tim's conduct in our project.
There was one call with Mum, but I also had two separate calls with him myself,
plus the email exchanges. He has now made further public statements about
why AMB withdrew and what happened around the payment, and some of those
claims are directly contradicted by the emails from the time.
So l completely accept that your experience with him has been positive. Ours
wasn't, and that's what I'm documenting.
This post is actually about a week old and was only approved today, so there's a

MysticalRabbit9147 | think the point here is then they've already paid the

Biddy Mitch Yep, this is exactly the question we had.
Mum's contract and payments were with Expandify. Expandify brought in AMB
to complete installation work. Tim later said publicly that Expandify couldn't pay
AMB because we hadn't made the next payment.
The problem is our email to him at the time explicitly said Mum was not refusing
to pay. We were disputing being asked to pay almost $70k before the
contractual milestone had occurred.
That's why I've now asked Tim directly whether AMB would have stayed on
Mum's project if we had agreed to pay early. He still hasn't answered.
